Whether you’re thinking of celebrating a big event with 300 of your closest friends, hosting a casual long lunch in the sun, or enjoying cocktails at sunset with a backdrop of good tunes, The Culpeper’s got your back.

OUR STYLE OF EATING

Specialising in super-fresh seafood and finger-licking-good American-style barbecue (think low-n-slow cooked meats, ribs and tacos), we can feed you well no matter what your number. And we’ll help you wash it all down with our thirst-quenching selection of craft beer, great wine and cocktails.

OUR location

Our downtown location means we’re perfectly placed for work events and end-of-week parties. And The Culpeper’s bright, breezy interior — walls covered in palm-tree prints and a punchy colour scheme — make it the kind of place where it just feels right to relax with a cocktail in hand and some tasty snacks.

A space for all occasions

A mix of spaces and configurations work for whatever you’ve got in mind. For sit-down lunches or dinners, the dining room can seat 75 and our feasting and sharing menu keeps everyone full and happy. Kick your meal off with the likes of buttermilk fried chicken, blackened fish tacos and our legendary pork belly corn dogs, then go meat-tastic with options including 16-hour smoked brisket and sticky glazed pork ribs, served up with sides of slaw and curly fries.

Party numbers

If 75 friends isn’t enough for you, you can throw open the doors at the front of The Culpeper and seat an extra 45 people on the verandah. Or, you can book just our verandah: bathed in sun and perched above the sea, it’s great for drinks functions of between 20 and 120 guests. If the sun’s not shining, the area can be completely screened and heated, meaning it works for any time of year. There’s plenty of room out there for everything from check-in tables to DJ decks, and the flavour-packed finger food menu — pulled pork Cubano sliders, smoked brisket tacos, corn dogs and much more — will guarantee your guests are happy.

Really want to go all out? Combine the restaurant and verandah spaces to host up to 300 people for a standing cocktail party, complete with our killer finger food, a DJ and any other special additions you need.

Smaller Groups

For a smaller get-together of friends, family or your team at work, our large wooden table at the heart of the eatery seats 12-16 and has a view of all the action going on in the open kitchen. And no matter how big or small your event is, executive chef Gareth Stewart and his team are happy to work with you to accommodate specific requirements, as well as any special dietary needs. They’ll even bring the food to you, if you need some of our awesome appetisers and tasting platters, but don’t need the venue, because we offer catering to locations in the CBD. For catering on a bigger scale, The Culpeper’s mobile kitchen can set up at any off-site location and provide a food station for your events.
